Hello, my name is Drew, and I’m fundraising to support my mom as she battles jaw cancer.
She was diagnosed last year, and the news was so devastating that she kept it from me for almost a year. When I noticed she wasn’t eating food like normal, I asked her what was wrong, and then she confessed to me her diagnosis and her fear of its cost, as well as the burden this would put on me. I don’t live with her, and she won’t move here to live with me, but that is okay. I’m going to do the best I can for her.
The treatment, which is underway, involves urgent surgery to remove the cancerous tumor from her jaw, followed by reconstruction and long-term care. Unfortunately, she does not have health insurance, and the medical expenses are far more than we can manage on our own.
My mom is one of the kindest, most selfless people you could ever meet. She has always put others before herself. Over the years, she’s opened our doors to friends who were going through hard times, giving them a place to stay and helping them get back on their feet. She gives from the heart and never expects recognition; in fact, she gets very emotional if you do recognize her kindness.
Now she’s the one in need, and it’s incredibly difficult for her to ask for help. No matter how much she’s told otherwise, she believes herself a burden. That’s why I’m doing this on her behalf, because she deserves the same compassion and generosity that she has shown to so many others.
Any support you can offer, whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this page, would mean the world to us. Thank you for taking the time to read her story and for standing with us in this fight.
