My name is Taliia, and I am an international student currently studying in Japan. I recently discovered that I am 18 weeks pregnant, and I urgently need help to afford a second-trimester abortion, which is not covered by Japanese health insurance.
I come from a low-income family and fully support myself. I study full-time and work part-time just to cover my basic needs — rent for my dorm and food. I never imagined being in this situation. I always used contraception and was focused entirely on building my future.
Because of severe stress and my irregular menstrual cycle, I didn’t realize I was pregnant until the 18th week. I had no symptoms and never suspected anything was wrong. Now I’m physically and emotionally overwhelmed, and financially I simply cannot manage this alone.
The cost of the procedure at this stage is very high — ¥350,000 to ¥500,000 (approximately $2,300–$3,300 USD). This includes medical costs, hospital stay, and transportation. I cannot afford this amount, and I have no family or financial support to turn to.
