Back in December, Ally started feeling unwell. After months of testing and searching for answers, she was finally diagnosed in May with Chiari Malformation Type 1 — a neurological condition where brain tissue extends into the spinal canal. She was scheduled to see a brain surgeon on June 9th to determine whether surgery would be necessary, but her family’s world was turned upside down yet again.
Janet had to make the incredibly difficult decision to cancel Ally’s neurosurgeon appointment to be at Chris’s side when doctors discovered a large tumor in his esophagus. Chris had been dealing with troubling symptoms for months but attributed them to stress. Further testing confirmed the worst: invasive poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma — a highly aggressive form of cancer.
Janet, Ally’s mom, has already used all her PTO caring for Ally. Now Chris will no longer be able to work as he begins treatment for cancer. Together, they’ve always done everything possible to provide a loving, stable home and ensure Ally gets the care she needs. But now, they are facing two life-altering medical battles at once — and they need our help.
The Olhasso family should be focused on healing, not financial strain. Let’s come together to support them through this unimaginable time. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference.
