Support this little reader’s eye surgery

My name is Angelina and all of you know me as followers of my Instagram account: @kindnessandstories. On my account I have mentioned my little grandson. He is a joy in my life. I don’t share many photos of him out of respect to his mommy, who would would not like photos of him on social media (except for side profiles or partial face).

My grandson was born two years ago and had a very traumatic birth. After 30 hours of labor, they did an emergency c-section. He had to be resuscitated and spent 10 days in the hospital with an infection, trauma from lack of oxygen, and high bilirubin levels. He wouldn’t nurse or drink from a bottle, was tired and lethargic, and had to be fed with a syringe for a few weeks. I spent time supporting mommy and him for the first two months of his life to help “fatten” him up as he wasn’t gaining any weight.

Hospital bills were extremely high, reaching $50,000. Fortunately my daughter’s job had excellent medical insurance, so the amount owing was reduced to $10,000.

The first 18 months of his life was also met with many developmental delays. He wasn’t rolling, crawling, standing or walking at milestone dates. He required weekly physical therapy and occupational therapy from the time he was 3 months old.

Another noticeable concern was his eyes. He was diagnosed with infantile esotropia, a type of crossed eyes that appears in babies during their first year of life. His parents tried eye patches and glasses, but neither was effective. It was a concern because his was so bad that it impacted his ability to walk, so his parents decided that surgery was the best option.

This type of surgery is not covered by any insurance, as it is considered “cosmetic”. I can’t even imagine what he was able to see or how he saw things as his right eye was significantly crossed inward.

He had his surgery at the end of January and it has been so beautiful to see this little boy develop his gross motor skills, look at books, throw balls, and learn to walk.

His mommy has taken the last two years off work to be there to support him through his physical therapy and medical appointments. This has come at a cost, as they have had to navigate big medical bills and live off of one income. They are very private and do not want to ask for help, so I am asking on their behalf. I know that the costs have been very substantial, depleted their savings, and added debt.

I have over 10,000 wonderful, supportive Instagram followers and I am asking if each one of you is able to make a small donation to help this little family cover the cost of this eye surgery for my sweet grandson. He is a darling little guy who makes us laugh and has overcome so much in his two years. Any amount helps and would be appreciated.

Another option is to purchase any of my books: “What Kind of World Would It Be “, “I Love You to the Treetops “, or “My Mindful Friends “. These are affiliate links which means that, at zero cost to you, I will earn an affiliate commission if you click through the link and finalize a purchase. All commissions I earn from the Amazon sales of my books for the rest of the year will go toward this fundraiser.

Thank you in advance.

May your kindness and generosity be returned to you.

With gratitude,

Angelina
