Dear friends, family, and everyone who wishes to help, we are reaching out on behalf of our beloved friend, Steven Wilson, a devoted husband, father, and cherished member of the Irvington, NY and Temple Beth Abraham communities.
On May 13, Steve and his daughter Sami were involved in a devastating car accident while driving home from SUNY Oneonta. Steve suffered a stroke while behind the wheel while Sami sat helpless as her dad veered off the road and collided with another vehicle. Steve was airlifted to SUNY Upstate Medical University in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. In the days, and weeks that followed, he underwent several major surgeries. While his prognosis has thankfully improved, Steve is fighting for his life to recover from a traumatic brain injury, and, he will still require multiple surgeries once he is medically stable enough to withstand them. His road to recovery will be long and arduous. Sami, miraculously, escaped with less serious injuries, and she too is slowly healing.
Originally from London, Steve has called Irvington home for more than 20 years. With his wife Jamie, he has built a beautiful life rooted in love, community, and above all, family. Together, they’ve raised two remarkable daughters and touched countless lives through their warmth and generosity. If you don’t know the family personally, no doubt, you’ve been touched by their dedication to both the Irvington community and to Temple Beth Abraham where Jamie has dedicated herself to serving on temple committees for many years including two years as president.
With this sudden and devastating turn of events, the family is now facing emotional and financial hardship. To help ease their burden, we created this fundraiser on their behalf to provide urgent and ongoing financial support to Steve, Jamie and their children, Cydney, and Sami for the foreseeable future. The family is grateful that after nearly a month in the hospital, Steve is now at Cabrini Rehabilitation Center where he continues his long journey to recovery.
Your donation will go directly toward medical costs, rehabilitation, essential living expenses, caregivers, modifications to their home, psychological and emotional support and any unforeseen needs that may arise. Every contribution—no matter the size—will help ease the burden and give the Wilsons the space to focus on what matters most: Steven’s healing and ultimate return to his Irvington home.
Thank you for your compassion, your prayers, and your generosity. Your support means more than words can say.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Steve’s family and friends
