Hello friends and kind strangers,
I’m reaching out with a little vulnerability to ask for help.
In early May, my sweet 9-year-old dog Ruby started limping. After x-rays, my primary vet suspected a torn CCL (the dog equivalent of an ACL). When we met with an orthopedic surgeon at Norway Vet, I got the devastating news: both of her CCLs are fully torn. She’ll need a double TPLO surgery on July 1st to walk (and more importantly, run) comfortably again.
The surgery and recovery are intense… over $9,000 in total and 12+ weeks of healing, rehab, restricted movement, lots of TLC, and carrying her up and down three flights of stairs. I’ve taken out a Care Credit card and am preparing however I can, but it’s a massive expense, far more than I have in my bank account, and, begrudgingly, I’ve come to terms with the fact that I could really use some community support.
It’s uncomfortable to ask, especially knowing how much hardship and need exists in the world right now. But if you’re in a position to help, any amount you can contribute to this fundraiser will truly make a difference for Ruby and me. And if you’re not in a place to give, simply sharing this or sending a good thought our way means more than I can say.
If you know Ruby, you know how much she loves ripping across a grassy field, racing through ocean waves, or bounding down a trail with everything she’s got. I’m holding onto the hope that we’ll get back to those joyful walks and beach days together soon.
Thank you so SO much – for reading, for caring, and for being here. It really means the world!
With love,
Ruby & Kristen
