On April 25th, I fell 33 feet from a metal roof and landed on concrete. I was taken to the hospital for emergency surgery, resulting in a broken pelvis, broken ribs, and a broken lower backbone. After emergency surgery and 4 weeks in the hospital, I’m now recovering at home. However, recently, tests revealed that the nerves in my lower back are being compressed, and I need to see a spine specialist as soon as possible.
The road ahead is tough, and the costs are piling up. My family and I are facing a long journey with a few more surgeries coming up. My Medicaid insurance is not paying for my prescriptions for some reason and is not willing to pay for any of my rehab. The spinal fusion surgery costs $15,700, and I’m responsible for $1,500 that my insurance is not paying for, which has to be paid upfront.
