Hi, my name is Nzinga, and I never imagined I’d be writing this.
I’ve spent the last 10 years working hard as a school portrait photographer — capturing smiles and memories for thousands of students and families. But now, I’m facing the hardest chapter of my life.
In 2023, after saying goodbye to my beloved dog of 11 years, I was told by several orthopedic and podiatry specialists that if I wanted to keep doing photography—and avoid more serious health problems in the future—I needed major reconstructive surgery on both of my feet. I agreed and had surgery on my left foot. What was supposed to be a routine recovery turned into over a year of healing. And I still have to undergo the same surgery on my right foot. Each time I go for a check-up, the full recovery timeline gets pushed back by another 4 to 6 months. Now, it’s predicted I’ll need more than a year—possibly longer—before I’m fully back on both feet again.
Because I can’t stand, walk, or do in-person photography, I’ve lost my main source of income. I’ve been trying to find ways to work remotely, but it will take time to retrain and rebuild in this new chapter. In just two months, I won’t be able to pay my rent.
That’s why I’m humbly asking for help to:
• Stay in my home during this long recovery
• Cover rent, food, and basic utilities
• Manage extra medical expenses not covered by insurance
• Build new remote work skills so I can support myself while healing
Every contribution counts, and every share brings me closer to stability and peace of mind. Every kind message gives me hope that I can get through this without the fear of losing my home while my body heals.
Thank you so much for reading, sharing, supporting and caring
