Murph was admitted to the emergency room on may 9th, 2025 with severe weakness and bad headaches. Following a CT scan of the head, they found a 3.7cm midline posterior fossa mass with obstructive hydrocephalus. He had a prior mid suboccipital craniotomy to remove a similar mass of 3.4cm back in 2017. Doctors seemed to think the same brain tumor from 2017 had grew back. He was then life flighted to AHN Pittsburgh that same night. He underwent another mid suboccipital craniotomy to remove the mass on may 13th. There was minimal complications during surgery (evolving parenchymal hemorrhage, subacute infarctions and mild effacement of 4th ventricle). On may 18th he was discharged to inpatient rehabilitation closer to home. On may 22nd he was discharged from rehab and sent back to pittsburgh following clear drainage from his incision, which was later found to be spinal fluid. In pittsburgh they quickly placed a spinal drain to relieve the excess spinal fluid build up which was causing pressure on the brain, not allowing the wound to heal properly. This remained for multiple days allowing his brain to heal. He was then sent back to inpatient rehab on may 30th where he remains today. He has a long road ahead that will take a lot of time, effort, rehabs and physical, speech, occupational therapies and more before he can be back on his feet. The financial burden is significant and continues to grow each day. Being a farmer with a active running farm, and many farm animals to care for, in addition to the medical costs, travel costs, living expenses, therapies, in home services and lost wages. We would like to help ease some of the stress associated with these financial burdens so he is able to fully focus on his recovery. We are aiming to raise 25k to ensure he is able to cover his medical expenses and complex medical needs following discharge, post surgery therapies, in home care, lost wages, and farm expenses to keep the farm up and running. Every contribution brings him one step closer to healing without fear of financial hardship. Anyone who knows murph knows how resilient, stubborn and hard working he is. Asking for help isnt easy for him nor is accepting help. So every donation no matter the amount will make a impact.
