Hello, my name is Samantha Douglas and I’m raising funds for my husband Gerardo Gomez and our little family.
It all started in July when my husband got sick from pneumonia and went to the hospital. They made him make an appointment with a physician. We made the appointment, they took his blood levels, and they were way too low, so she sent him to oncology where they sent us straight to Norfolk where he was admitted. They ran multiple tests on him…
Now is where it all starts. He was admitted to the hospital where he was later diagnosed with B-ALL leukemia cancer. There are no stages in leukemia as it’s a blood cancer. With this being said, he was in Norfolk General for 3 months getting chemo and radiation. They now have him going to Duke University as he is getting prepared to have a bone marrow transplant done, so he will be out of work for a while.
We are raising the money to help pay for his medical bills and also for him to have a place to stay as he is getting a bone marrow transplant done. It all starts Monday, June 23rd, 2025, and he will have to stay there for 3 months. This is really hard for us and has been since he was diagnosed.
