Support Gene and Shelley’s Handicap-Accessible Van

Help Mom & Dad Get Back on the Road with a Handicap Accessible Van!

Hello! My name is Matthew, and I created this fundraiser campaign to help my parents, Gene and Shelley, obtain a handicap van. Your help will be greatly appreciated!

My father has been facing significant mobility challenges for many years due to Post-Polio Syndrome (PPS). While he and my mother have faced these challenges with incredible grace, strength, and faith, one of the biggest hurdles they’re currently encountering is transportation.

Their current handicap-accessible van is beyond reasonable repair (though they have tried), and this dramatically alters their quality of life. Getting around safely and comfortably has become increasingly difficult. Even essential trips to doctors’ appointments, family gatherings, or simply enjoying a day out are incredibly challenging and stressful for both of them. My father also teaches art at a local art school and needs to be able to meet with his students in person.

I would like to restore their independence and joy of movement.

That’s why I’m starting this fundraiser: to purchase a handicap accessible van. This isn’t just a vehicle; it’s a lifeline. It means:

Freedom and Independence: The ability to transport his wheelchair, leave the house without complex logistical planning, and without the stress of trying to safely and comfortably transfer my father from his wheelchair into a non-handicap accessible vehicle.

Essential Care: Reliable transportation to crucial medical appointments and therapies.

Quality of Life: The chance to enjoy simple pleasures like visiting loved ones, teaching art, or running errands with ease.

Peace of Mind: For them, and our family, knowing they can safely and comfortably get where they need to go.

A new or gently used handicap accessible van is a significant investment, costing from around $30,000 and rising, depending on the features needed for their specific situation. My father needs one with a rotating driver’s seat that enables him to continue driving. This is a financial burden that is simply too much for them to bear on their own.

Every single donation, no matter the size, will bring us closer to our goal. If you’re unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this campaign with your friends and family. Spreading the word is just as valuable! So are your prayers for a successful campaign!

I am so grateful for any support you can offer. It will restore Gene and Shelley’s independence and dignity, which they so richly deserve.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and kindness. May God bless you and keep you!

With deepest gratitude,

Matthew Snowden and the Snowden Family

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
