My Long Term Care Medicaid was approved in mid-May retroactive to May 1st, which means I can begin the process of eventually returning to my apartment with the care and assistance I need for my day-to-day life. It also means I have to pay the skilled nursing facility $1350 every month. Because my Medicaid was approved retroactively, I was billed for May and June on June 1st. I paid the May balance immediately, but the $1350 represents the bulk of my SSDI minus the little bit of money I am allowed to keep each month for incidentals. The June bill is already past due and I will not receive another Social Security payment until the July bill is due. In order not to be chronically 30 days behind, I need some help. Because I receive Medicaid, I am very limited in how much money I can make or keep in the bank, but I confirmed with my caseworker that this one-time event is okay since I am using it to pay the facility.
Many of you helped before when I was trying to raise money for the home health aides I need to stay in my apartment. I am so grateful for your assistance. I was able to stay home at least a couple of weeks longer with your help. I am asking now for your continued support. Those of you who have been following my blog are familiar with the challenges of this process. Thank you all so much for continuing to hang in there with me. I can’t do this without you.
