E.J.’s Story
On April 26th, what started as an ordinary day quickly turned sour very quickly. E.J., a phenom of a human being, posted to Facebook asking for prayers as he’d begun experiencing strange symptoms and wanted to get himself checked out. By April 27th, those symptoms had escalated into a major stroke that left him fighting for his life.
E.J. initially visited United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, West Virginia, where medical staff recognized the severity of his condition and admitted him. After his first stroke, they quickly arranged for his transfer to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, where he could receive the intensive treatment his critical condition demanded.
Since that life-altering day in April, E.J. has remained in a coma, keeping himself and his family locked in a battle that no one should ever have to face.
E.J.’s Current Condition
E.J. continues to fight with the same determination that has always defined him, though he remains in a comatose state. He is currently dependent on a ventilator to breathe and receives nutrition through a feeding tube. The road ahead remains uncertain, but we haven’t given up hope.
In a difficult but hopeful decision, E.J.’s family has chosen to perform a tracheotomy to secure his airway and potentially make him more comfortable as they continue to pray and wait for signs of his awakening.
The Impact
When the call came that every parent dreads, E.J.’s parents immediately dropped everything and rushed from their home in Georgia to be by their son’s side. What they thought might be a short emergency trip has now stretched into months of an exhausting routine that has turned their lives upside down.
E.J.’s parents have become his lifeline, maintaining not only their own household in Georgia but also taking on the enormous responsibility of keeping E.J.’s life intact. They’re covering his monthly bills, ensuring his beloved dog Sophie is cared for, and managing all the details that E.J. can’t handle while he fights for recovery.
The emotional toll is matched only by the financial strain. Multiple times each week, Dan and Kathy make the grueling 60+ minute drive each way from his house to Morgantown to be with E.J. These trips add up quickly – gas, meals, lodging, and the countless unexpected expenses that come with a medical crisis of this magnitude. Of course, his own monthly bills continue to arrive while his parents stretch their resources to cover everything.
How Your Donation Will Help
Every dollar donated will go directly toward:
- Replacing E.J.’s lost income to ensure his bills continue to be paid during his recovery
- Covering his ongoing monthly expenses including rent, utilities, insurance, and other essential costs
- Supporting his parents’ travel expenses including gas, meals, and temporary lodging as they maintain their vigil
- Helping with unexpected costs that arise during this extended medical crisis
- Caring for Sophie, E.J.’s loyal companion who is waiting for his return
At this time, we don’t yet know the full extent of E.J.’s medical bills, but we know the financial pressure on his family is immense and growing each day. Your contribution will provide the breathing room this family desperately needs to focus on what matters most – being there for E.J. and supporting his recovery.
Hope and Gratitude
E.J. has always been the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back without a second thought. He’s touched countless lives with his kindness, humor, passion, drive, and generous spirit. Now, as he faces the biggest fight of his life, his family is asking for the community’s help to carry them through this dark time.
No donation is too small, and every gesture of support – whether financial or simply sharing his story – means more than words can express. E.J.’s parents have shown incredible strength and devotion, but they shouldn’t have to face this burden alone.
Please consider donating today to help E.J. and his family during this critical time. Together, we can help ensure that when E.J. opens his eyes, everything he needs will be waiting for him – his home, his beloved Sophie, and the knowledge that his community stood by his family when they needed it most.
