Dear friends,
On June 5th, our beloved family member Dave Laverdure was in a serious car accident. He collided at full speed with a broken down garbage truck. He broke both arms, has serious femur and hip fractures, and fractures in his cervical spine. He has so far had three extensive surgeries, and will be hospitalized for some time. After that, he’ll move to a rehab center for physical therapy. We’ve been told that this care timeline could be nine months or longer.
We are fortunate that Dave has a good union job and healthcare, but he has a long recovery road ahead and will not be able to work for some time. Disability insurance covers less than 1/3 of his income, and we are expecting some medical bills and other expenses. His truck is completely totaled. My sister Alexis, Dave’s partner, is a teacher at a small Catholic elementary school, and is also in school full-time for her Master’s degree. Dave and Alexis have two children – my niece Camille, age 4, and Bodhi, age 12, Dave’s son from a previous relationship.
My ask today is that you help us support Alexis, Dave, Bodhi, and Camille as they recover from this tragedy. It’s a tough time for our family, and your support means everything. If you’d also like to send a card or visit Dave, or help Alexis in other ways as she navigates all this, please get in touch and I can help coordinate that.
Much love from the Macrina-Laverdure-Hallahan clan, and thank you.
Alison
