On May 17th, 2025, my sister Chelsea was rushed to the emergency room due to severe abdominal pain. The doctors found a 13.1 cm mass on her liver that had ruptured, leading to her having severe internal bleeding. She had to be transferred to another hospital that had the proper equipment to stop the bleeding. The doctors were able to embolize the bleed, but she lost 2 liters of blood and almost died during the life-saving procedure. She had to receive multiple blood transfusions to survive. Since the initial procedure, Chelsea has been in and out of the hospital due to multiple complications, including the discovery of pulmonary emboli (blood clots) in her lungs. The large mass is still in her liver because it was too risky to remove it immediately with the amount of blood loss she experienced. Now begins the long road to recovery and follow-up testing to see if the mass is cancerous and figuring out how to deal with the other complications. My sister is a social worker who has dedicated her life to helping others and she never asks for help for herself. Any amount that you can donate would be greatly appreciated and would go directly to her medical costs.
