If you know me you know that all the kids in my life are like family. One of “my” kids has recently been diagnosed with neuroblastoma and was transferred to Stanford from Sierra Vista on Wednesday June 11th. Her name is Avahna and she is just three years old! Her sweet two-year old sister Aasha is currently staying with me and I’m making sure she’s getting lots of love while Mommy, Daddy and Sister are away.
As you can imagine, mom and dad are experiencing all kinds of uncertainties and emotions. Today Avahna underwent a biopsy and a port was established in her chest for current meds and possibly future chemotherapy. Avahna was not feeling well for close to a month prior to her hospitalization and Mom and Dad had already missed several days of work to keep her home from school and for the few appointments they did have, which unfortunately did not initially indicate such a concerning diagnosis.
As we all know, life responsibilities do not end or even halt when a family encounters an emergency and this family could use our help.
As a split family they are maintaining two households and the expenses to do so continue to build while they are away. In addition, they are anticipating several weeks of expenses as they first wait anxiously for a treatment plan and then whatever time frame is necessary for that treatment.
They have humbly agreed to me initiating this fundraiser as an attempt to help eleviate some of their stress and financial hardship.
It’s never easy to ask for help and any donation will be so greatly appreciated.
The family is also asking for any prayers…. specifically for comfort and healing for Avahna.
Thank you so much!
