On 6/6, Aubrey began with right lower abdominal pain and a fever with nausea. Lindsey took her to IU in Lafayette to rule out appendicitis. They found a Richter’s hernia going through her abdominal wall. They went to Riley at the discretion of Cincinnati. She ended up in surgery on 6/7 for 5 hours to repair the hernia, which led to them taking down her Malone, the only way she has been able to poop for 9 years besides an ileostomy. She then went into the IR on 6/10 to have a cecostomy placed. The night of 6/10-6/11, Aubrey was struggling with right shoulder pain they believed was gas. She continued to struggle on 6/11, and that night they found she had air in her abdomen from the IR procedure the day before as she declined rapidly. She was then rushed into emergency surgery for 4 hours. She has since been needing a large amount of pain meds and is unable to eat or drink. She will continue to be at Riley for an unknown amount of time to be able to recover.
Lindsey has now missed 60 hours at work as she has not left her side and potentially is going to miss another 60 hours at work. Tyler has been driving back and forth each day, going to work and coming back to be able to help in the evenings with Aubrey. They both work full-time, and this has been a large financial setback for them. Multiple people have asked how they can help, and I figured this may be the best way. Lindsey was very hesitant to agree to this as she doesn’t like asking for help. But anything to take some stress off of them during this time.
Please continue to pray for Aubrey and their family as they navigate through these next steps.
