On April 16, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and my world changed overnight. Since then, I’ve been preparing for a double mastectomy scheduled for June 24, followed by chemotherapy and reconstructive surgery. The journey ahead is daunting, but I’m determined to face it with strength and hope.
This diagnosis means I’ll be missing work for an extended period, and unfortunately, I don’t have short or long-term disability coverage. As a result, I’m facing mounting medical bills, the cost of medications, and the challenge of keeping up with rent and utilities while I focus on healing. Every day brings new hurdles, but I’m grateful for the support of my family, who provide emotional encouragement, and my church, which has organized a meal train to help with daily needs.
I’m also a mom to a 16-year-old daughter who is about to start her junior year of high school. She is so worried about me and the future, and I want to be there for her during this important time in her life. Your support will not only help me focus on recovery, but also allow me to continue supporting my daughter as she navigates this big year.
I’m reaching out for help so I can focus on recovery without the overwhelming stress of financial uncertainty. Any support you can offer will go directly toward my medical expenses and living costs during this difficult time. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, generosity, and encouragement as I work toward recovery.
