Hi, my name is Amanda. I’m sure a lot of you know me and if you don’t…it’s nice to meet you. My story started in 2023 but didn’t really kick off to where we are now until the beginning of 2024, after my stroke in 2023.
I have currently had 6 surgeries on my ankle alone in the last year. They thought they would end up needing to amputate, but thankfully they saved it. Which is why we are here now. I just got my external fixture off of my leg and am now in a boot cast. After this, I will need to purchase an AFO which insurance will not cover because they covered the original one I had after my stroke (which no longer fits me right, unfortunately, so does not do the job it’s supposed to be doing). I had an infection in my bones starting from my heel and going all the way up to my knee. They removed a lot of it and fused my ankle with the exfix because of my drop foot from my stroke (as well as a bunch of other things I won’t get into during that 7-hour surgery, which happened to be my 5th ankle surgery). So anyway, here we are. They have quoted me a little over $300 for a new AFO. ANYTHING helps and I am so sorry I am still needing so much help but hopefully this is the last leg (see what I did there) of my journey. I am so grateful for any and all love and support I have received along the way. Even if all you have is $1 to donate, I will consider myself lucky and fortunate. I love you all so much for the love and support and I will definitely be hosting a giant feast when I’m finally able to.
