This is Marshall Helman the second; he goes by Addam. He is 28 years old. He was born with Lowe syndrome, which is a rare genetic disorder that affects the eyes, brain, and kidneys. Addam also has type 1 diabetes, is wheelchair-bound, blind in one eye, and prone to glaucoma and cataracts, as well as being mentally delayed.
His father is his caregiver, and it’s getting more difficult for him to get Addam out of the house. He has a van, but it does not have a wheelchair lift, so his father has to pick him up in and out of the van. He has an electric wheelchair he can’t use because it can’t be transported in their current van with no lift.
Addam is currently in the hospital; he has fluid in his lungs, an enlarged heart, and his kidneys are failing. When he gets out of the hospital, he’s likely going to have to go to a lot more doctor’s appointments, and that will require a van with a lift.
It’s uncomfortable and painful for both Addam and his father to get him in and out of the van, so we would like to raise funds to get them a van with a wheelchair lift already installed. Thank you for reading and considering donating.
