Support a Miracle Child’s Battle for Survival

From Hospice to Hope — Help This Brave 7-Year-Old Survive Again

My name is Tara, and I’m writing this on behalf of a loving Arkansas family who is currently in Dallas, TX after a devastating and unexpected medical emergency involving their 7-year-old son — a true miracle child who has defied the odds time and time again.

This little boy was born with his heart on the wrong side of his chest, flipped backward, missing most of his main arteries, and with a large hole in the center of his heart. He had his first open-heart surgery at just 1 month old, where doctors placed a shunt and created a new artery. Days later, he coded — they had to do CPR on his tiny, freshly stitched chest.

He spent 8 months in the hospital. At one point, doctors placed him on hospice, saying there was nothing more they could do. But he kept fighting.

At 8 months old, he had his second open-heart surgery — and it worked. He went home, but had to live attached to a feeding tube 23 hours a day.

By age 5, he underwent his third open-heart surgery. In June of last year, he had his fourth, where surgeons reconstructed his body to function with only one ventricle, rerouting all veins and arteries to one side of his heart. It’s called a single ventricle repair — an extreme measure, but his only chance.

Then came chylothorax, a condition that prevented him from eating any fat between June and October 2024. In January 2025, his family got even more devastating news — he had developed Protein-Losing Enteropathy (PLE), a dangerous condition where protein leaks from his stomach and intestines, making it hard for his body to function or heal.

Arkansas doctors referred them to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, one of the few places that specializes in PLE.

But when they arrived, an MRI revealed something no one expected: a massive blood clot inside his heart. He immediately underwent an 8-hour emergency surgery to remove it. He is currently sedated, on a breathing tube, and has fluid in his right lung.

This family has stayed by his side through every heartbreak, but they never imagined being stuck hundreds of miles from home with no support system and now, no money.

They are in urgent need of help to stay in Dallas through at least Wednesday, while their son remains in critical condition.

They need help to cover:

Hotel: $140/night × 5 nights = $700

Car rental: $110/day × 5 days = $550

Food and essentials: $250

Total goal: $1,500

This is a family who has already faced more pain and uncertainty than most of us can imagine. Every single dollar — every prayer, every share — gives them the strength to keep going.

If you’re not able to donate, please consider sharing this story. Your kindness could help lift a huge burden off this family’s shoulders and give them one less thing to worry about while they fight for their son’s life again.

Thank you for reading, for caring, and for giving this family hope.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
