Superhuman Mom Fighting for a Kidney—and a Future
Hi, my name is Shakela Hudson, and I’m reaching out with faith, strength, and hope for support in the most important fight of my life.
In 2018, I was diagnosed with lupus, an autoimmune disease that began attacking my body from the inside out. Since then, I’ve survived more than most people could imagine:
A blood clot in my lungs
A stroke
Bleeding on the brain
A serious case of meningitis
And now, end-stage kidney failure
I’ve been on dialysis for over three years, and each treatment reminds me how fragile life is—and how deeply I want to keep living it. I’m currently on the kidney transplant list at the University of Chicago Medicine, but I’m also searching for a living donor who may be able to give me a second chance at life.
I’m the proud mother of four beautiful children, including a set of twins. They are my world. I try to live life to the fullest—dancing when I can, running my beauty salon suite, and staying grounded in faith, even when my body feels broken. I often say I’m a Superhuman—because surviving all this while staying hopeful and present for my children is nothing less than a miracle.
I’m asking for help to:
Raise awareness in hopes of finding a living kidney donor
Cover medical expenses, transportation to treatment, and support my family through recovery
Continue natural healing practices that help manage lupus and inflammation
If you can’t donate financially, please consider these other powerful ways to help:
Become a living donor

Keep me in your prayers
