Strong Like Hope – Support Hope’s Shoulder Journey
In 2023, Hope went from capable and competent in her movement to unable to use her right arm after some medical intervention gone wrong in correcting neck pain after a car accident. As a former athlete, she’s tough, and through PT, she has fought hard to regain the ability to brush her hair and teeth right-handed and develop some tolerance to movement within a reasonable range of motion, but has been left with significant pain and limited strength/function. Her big goal is to be able to skate again someday, as that is something still outside of her current abilities that she used to love…but PT, neuromuscular re-education, and functional skill re-training costs add up quickly. Having better use of her shoulder not only will improve her functional abilities, but will also enhance her self-confidence as she feels less different and spends less time alone trying to deal with pain flares and low mobility. Funds will be used for programs specializing in the neuroscience and movement-based interventions her body needs as well as any follow-up care that may be required to maintain progress over time.
