Right before Easter, Scott’s life took an unexpected turn. He missed a step, rolled his ankle, and what seemed like a minor injury quickly escalated into something much more serious. The injury led to a severe infection that landed him in the hospital for sixteen days, during which he underwent four surgeries.
Doctors believe the infection became so severe because of complications from Scott’s cancer treatment two years ago—another life-altering battle he had fought hard to overcome.
Now, Scott is non-weight-bearing and unable to walk for at least two months. As a self-employed contractor, this means he’s also unable to work. He doesn’t receive sick pay, and due to his medical history, affordable disability insurance has been out of reach.
