Hello friends and family alike. We are hoping to raise funds for an extraordinary member of our family. Beloved son, loyal boyfriend, committed colleague, and our dear friend, Matt.
Within the last couple of weeks, the air quality went out in much of Minnesota due to the forest fires in Canada. Matt has asthma and it was taking a toll on his breathing. True to his spirit and camaraderie, he honored the tee-time he and his buddies had scheduled, and went golfing on Monday, June 2nd. At some point during the round, his friends needed to take him to the Essentia Health- St Joseph hospital emergency room in Brainerd Minnesota.
The skilled medical team at Essentia Health attempted to administer different medications in an effort to improve his lung functionality. Matt’s body was fighting to help itself, however, the results were not what the medical team was hoping for. Upon further evaluation, it was determined that he needed to be placed into a medically-induced coma with ventilator assistance.
Later that night, after careful monitoring, it was decided that Matt needed to be transferred to the larger hospital in Duluth Minnesota. Around 1:30 am on Wednesday, 6/3, he was air-lifted to Essentia Health- St Mary’s Duluth location and arrived around 3:00am. Matt’s wonderful parents and loyal girlfriend, Veronica, are there to support him every step of the way. The care team and staff are amazing and keep family and friends updated. This brings comfort and continued confidence as Matt’s condition remains steady or slightly improving.

Matt is truly loved and adored, and we are very much looking forward to seeing him healthy and back to his funny, charming, hard-working, heart-warming, caring, and loving nature!
