Hello everyone, I am Dave from Wisconsin, USA , my wife is from Warri, Nigeria. We were married about two years ago and we have been patiently waiting for her visa so she can come here. Its been a struggle with distance, and instead of our time frame getting shorter, they keep adding time which is very frustrating. I cannot live there due to security issues. When I travel there to visit the biggest financial drain on the trip is for security because of security risks for americans there.
We were planning a trip to see each other in Germany the first week of July. And as we were making our plans and getting her visa in place, tragedy struck us hard. On Wednesday May 28th, she passed out and was taken to the hospital, after the first hospital showed they were incompetent, she was taken to a better hospital where she remained in a coma state for 3 days. We learned that she was in Kidney failure with Uremic Encephalopathy causing her to be in that coma state. After the diagnosis they gave her a dialysis treatment and she became slightly conscious, she couldnt talk but she moved her arms and legs and responded to voice with arm movement. 2 days later a second dialysis treatment, she was more awake and trying to talk but with slurred and slow speech. As of today she is talking, yet slow, she can walk and eat and she has some of her memory, she recognizes everyone but she is still missing some of her essence. Yesterday the doctors said she is between stage 4 and stage 5 Kidney failure. The toxins in her blood are at around 4 times the normal level and her current eGFR is only 18. Her only viable option is a kidney transplant. As you can imagine, my worry is for her health first. She is in Nigeria where they have come a long ways in their treatment of kidneys, but they still do not have the advancements that we have here in the US. I have been having to pay for everything upfront, if you know Nigeria, this is common. I have her in a private hospital with good doctors but the cost is adding up and as you can imagine, the cost of a kidney transplant is going to be very costly.
I am asking, begging for any help that you can give. Every single penny will only be used for her medical expenses, that is a guarantee. If you knew my wife, you would know she is the kindest, sweetest, most honest person you can imagine and for her to be stricken like this is truly heartbreak for everyone that knows her. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.
