Hi, my name is Summer, and I’m reaching out for support for my daughter, Penelope. After ongoing concerns and discussions with her pediatrician, we received a referral for autism testing — a crucial step in understanding her needs and getting her the support she deserves.
Unfortunately, we’ve run into a difficult roadblock. The referral was to a clinic in Mississippi that can see her in just 4 weeks — but they don’t accept Alabama Medicaid. We’ve called around to places here in Alabama, and the waitlists are up to 2 years long. As any parent knows, early diagnosis is everything. The sooner we can get answers, the sooner we can start helping her thrive. The end of last school year we ended up having to keep her home however she really loves and thrives in band and can’t participate until she goes back to school.
The clinic in Mississippi has availability and can complete the testing for $450 out of pocket. That’s not a huge number compared to what some families face, but for us right now, it’s simply more than we can manage.
We’re asking for help to raise the $450 needed to cover her autism evaluation. Every single dollar will go directly toward the testing fee. If you’re not in a place to donate, even sharing this means the world to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and for helping us fight for the care our daughter needs.
