It all started in 2017 when my wife of forty years was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer. This type of cancer is almost always terminal. It was a long journey of six years and six months until she passed! Now, two years and six months later, I have had five skin cancer surgeries. One of the surgeries two years ago was four hours long, and they had to cut my earlobe completely off and cut me from the base of my neck all the way to the top of my head to remove a basal cell carcinoma tumor. Then, a year later, I had three more skin cancers removed and later had another. Now, I am dealing with a large squamous cell carcinoma. I have since started immunotherapy infusions and have gone to Dallas to see a special surgeon for this large tumor on my neck. I have had many tests and procedures. They have scored it at stage four, so it is very serious!
It has been very difficult paying through all of these years with my wife and her many years of treatment, procedures, and surgeries. Now that I am living on a small amount of Social Security retirement and paying for Medicare, which only pays a portion of each procedure and costs a lot, I find myself in need of help. The costs of going out of town to Dallas and back many times, plus when I get the surgery, I could be in the hospital for two weeks because they are going to have to do a transplant of muscle and skin in the area on my neck. After the surgery, I will still get some follow-up infusions and radiation treatments. So if you can find it in your heart to help, I would be very thankful and appreciate the kindness of your heart.
