Cody’s journey has been nothing short of miraculous. After a 20-minute day surgery went terribly wrong, he spent nearly 5 months on life support. Despite doctors’ repeated suggestions to give up hope just two weeks post-surgery, Cody’s determination and resilience proved them wrong.
From life support to long-term care facilities, hospitals, and now a specialized care facility for dialysis, tracheostomy care, and feeding tube management, Cody’s road to recovery has been long and arduous. Against all odds, he’s made remarkable progress:
– Breathing on his own for three weeks, defying doctors’ predictions that he’d never breathe without a tracheostomy
– Drinking successfully for three days, despite being told he’d never swallow without aspiration
Now, we’re focused on getting Cody home, where he can continue his recovery surrounded by loved ones. However, he’ll require ongoing medical care, including dialysis three times a week, which means a 140-mile round-trip commute.
