Greetings.
My name is Alenka, and 3 weeks ago, I said goodbye to my beloved cat, Nowhere. He was just four years old. Born in the middle of nowhere, that’s how he got his name.
But from the moment we met, he was everywhere with me. My shadow, my comfort, my guardian through some of the hardest and most transformative chapters of my life. He slept on my chest, curled into my arms, and knew me in a way no one else did.
Earlier this year, he faced a series of medical emergencies. He underwent three surgeries to treat a urinary blockage and slowly began to recover. He started cuddling again, climbing trees, chasing shadows — he felt like himself once more. We truly believed we had more time ahead of us. I was told he could live at least five more years — I wouldn’t have chosen surgery otherwise.
But in May, things changed rapidly. A fast-growing tumor in his bladder began bleeding, and within two days, I had to make the hardest decision — to let him go peacefully. If he stayed, he would have only had months filled with pain.
The medical care from January to May totaled nearly $7,800. With help from family and my savings, I covered most of it — but I still have $2,300 in short-term loans that must be repaid by July 31st, or the interest will increase significantly (currently they are interest-free).
I’m humbly asking for help — whether it’s through a donation (even just $5) or by sharing this campaign. Every contribution brings me a step closer to healing without the heavy weight of financial stress.
This isn’t just about expenses — it’s about honoring a soul who brought me unconditional love, warmth, and courage every single day. I don’t regret a single cent I spent on his care. I’d do it all again. Our animal companions deserve every chance to heal — just as we do.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
With love, Alenka (and Nowhere, always )
