Joann’s Struggle: A Mother’s Need for Help

Joann is a 40-year-old mother of 2. She is currently confined to a nursing home. She has experienced so much trauma in her life, and she needs our help.

At 16, her mother was murdered in 9/11, which resulted in her dropping out of high school. She went on to get her GED and scored high enough to be granted her high school diploma. She decided to move to Florida and start a new life. Her father raised her with love and support as much as he could.

At 23, she got pregnant with her son. That pregnancy caused kidney failure, preeclampsia, and gestational diabetes.

After the pregnancy of her son, she started dialysis and had a handful of strokes that she recovered from and taught herself how to walk again. While being a single mother, she continued with getting her certification in early childhood education and cosmetology.

She was able to become a preschool teacher and was absolutely amazing at it. Ten years after the birth of her son, she had another unexpected pregnancy, which caused complete kidney failure, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, and a uterus infection. She was faced with the option of death for herself or the death of both her and her fetus. She was given dialysis 5 days a week for 5 hours a day, just to get her fetus to 5 months, all while her body was turning for the worst. After she had her daughter at 1 lb 3 oz, she had 4 more strokes. The last one caused a brain aneurysm, resulting in emergency brain surgery. She was left paralyzed and unable to work or care for herself or her children. Joann’s family decided to put her in a nursing home, but she still needs help with her medical bills and caring for her children. She needs an electric wheelchair, due to her not being able to move herself, but has not been able to afford it. And she is now in debt with the nursing home and is on the verge of being homeless. Her family is not able to maintain her health needs. She is desperate for help and is asking others to find it in their hearts to help her and be a blessing in her traumatic life..

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
