Hello, my name is Ashley. I’m writing to share the heartbreaking news that my sister, Taylor, recently experienced a devastating loss. At eight months pregnant, she unexpectedly lost her beautiful baby boy.
Taylor was not considered high-risk, and just days earlier, both she and the baby were healthy at a routine check-up. Tragically, around 2 a.m. this past Monday, Taylor suffered a sudden placental abruption—a rare and unpredictable complication that caused the placenta to detach from her uterus. Within minutes, her baby was no longer receiving oxygen or blood flow and passed away.
This condition occurs in less than 1% of pregnancies. In addition to the unimaginable loss of her son, Taylor nearly lost her own life. She was rushed to the OR, underwent an emergency C-section, experienced severe blood loss, and was placed in the ICU for intubation and massive blood supply for over 24 hours. Thankfully, she is now in recovery and beginning the difficult process of grieving.
As she heals both physically and emotionally, our family is facing unexpected medical and funeral expenses. We have created a fundraiser to help ease the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution, no matter how small, is deeply appreciated.
