Hi, I’m Skye and I’m 22 years old. I’ve been hard of hearing since 2021 but have had hearing loss since I was a child.
In 2021, my hearing loss wasn’t bad enough to quite qualify for hearing aids. Upon getting reevaluated in February of this year, my hearing loss wasn’t significantly worse in my left ear, qualifying me for a hearing aid. Thankfully, my right ear was about the same as 2021. When I tested out a hearing aid during my appointment and the difference was extremely shocking and it was very emotional for me.
Unfortunately, my insurance does not cover hearing aids at all and hearing aids costs between $3,500-$4,000 for just one. I was very hesitant about making a fundraiser but figured I’d give it a shot. Anything helps
