My name is Sonja, and I am a 100 percent disabled Navy veteran. As my condition progresses, I face increasing challenges with mobility and stability in my daily life. There are times when I struggle to pick things up, get back on my feet after a fall, or manage simple tasks that many take for granted. Rather than wait for things to get worse, I want to take a proactive approach to my own care and independence. That’s where Sissy comes in. Sissy is a devoted Cane Corso we adopted a year ago. She’s already shown a natural instinct to help and comfort me, and with the right training, she can become my service dog and provide the support I need to live more safely and confidently.
I am hoping to enroll Sissy in a professional service dog training program, such as ROC Animal Training. This training will teach her to assist me with essential tasks like picking up dropped items, helping me get up after a fall, and retrieving things I can’t reach. While ROC Animal Training is my first choice, I may need to consider other programs if finances require it. My goal is to cover at least half of Sissy’s tuition myself, as I believe in taking responsibility for my own care and not relying solely on outside help. However, the costs of training, a travel crate, and a proper harness add up quickly, and I’m reaching out for support to make this possible.
