On May 25, Shawna and I had a devastating home fire which led to Shawna getting extensive smoke inhalation. She had to spend 9 days in the hospital and unfortunately, we missed the mark this past year getting her on my health insurance; she does not have medical coverage. Once released, we received the bill, not knowing the charges would be in excess of $192,000. The fire itself was devastating enough, but now we have this gigantic medical bill to deal with. I am mostly self-reliant and have difficulties asking for help. I am at a point now, I just don’t know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated as we try to rebuild our lives through this trying time.
