Help Save Vega – My Sweet Girl Desperately Needs Treatment
Hi, my name is Jamie Ransbottom, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help saving my dog, Vega. She’s my almost 7-year-old Rottweiler, my best friend, and truly my whole world.
About a month ago, Vega was diagnosed with a severe case of bladder stones. She was scheduled for surgery in late June, but on May 24th, things took a terrifying turn. She suddenly couldn’t pee and began bleeding within the hour. I was panicked and called my dad for help. We rushed her to an emergency vet, where they performed urgent surgery. Her bladder had already started to tear — something that would have been fatal if we hadn’t acted quickly.
I thought we were finally past the worst of it. But I was wrong.
Since her surgery, Vega has been in and out of the vet every single day — sometimes staying overnight — to have catheters placed just so she can urinate. The vet now believes there’s a narrowing in her urethra that’s preventing her from peeing on her own. This is not something they can fix in a regular clinic. My only option now is to take her to a university hospital where they have the equipment and specialists needed to diagnose and hopefully correct the issue, possibly with a stent or other procedure.
I’ve already spent thousands on her emergency surgery and follow-up care, and her ongoing visits are costing over $1,000 a week. I am completely out of funds.
The university treatment could range from $3,000 to $8,000 or more, depending on what they find and what procedures she’ll need — I won’t know the final cost until they can actually examine her. I’ve done everything I can on my own, but I can’t do this part alone.
I know times are hard for everyone, and this may not be your dog — but Vega is my everything. I can’t bear the thought of losing her simply because I can’t afford the care she needs to survive.
If you’re able to donate anything at all, no matter how small, it would mean the world to me. And if you can’t give right now, just sharing this post would be a huge help.
Thank you for reading, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring about Vega.
With gratitude,
Jamie & Vega
