Hi everyone,
We’re reaching out on behalf of Samaya Green, a vibrant, smart, and compassionate 22-year-old who is now facing the biggest fight of her life.
Samaya had just completed her fourth year at Buffalo State University, where she is pursuing her dream of becoming a writer. She was preparing to return this fall to complete her final two credits and graduate. When she came home for the summer, she thought she was just tired from finals. But her fatigue quickly turned into something much more serious.
After visiting the emergency room at St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh, NY, Samaya was admitted and underwent a whirlwind of testing and urgent medical care. Within a week, doctors found fluid in her lungs and a mass near her chest. She underwent blood transfusions, a chest tube procedure, iron infusions, multiple biopsies, and then was given four rounds of chemotherapy in just four days.
She was diagnosed with an aggressive and rare form of cancer called Primary Mediastinal Large B-Cell Lymphoma — a fast-growing type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that requires immediate and intensive treatment.
Samaya is now recovering at home for a short time before returning to the hospital for further chemotherapy. She is unable to work this summer and will be facing months of ongoing treatment and recovery.
We’re asking for your help to support:
• Medical bills and treatment-related expenses
• Living costs while Samaya is unable to work
• Travel and caregiving support for her family, who are taking time away from work
• Unexpected needs that arise during her cancer journey
Samaya’s family — her mother Samantha, father Tyron, younger brother TJ, and sister Taiyana — are by her side every step of the way. But they can’t do it alone.
This fundraiser is to help lift some of the financial burden so Samaya and her family can focus on what truly matters: her healing, her strength, and her future.
