My name is Lauren McIntyre. Most of you know my boyfriend, Ryan Reese. What you might not know is that he crashed his bicycle at the bottom of a bridge in 2019. This accident caused him to land face-first into the pavement, breaking 3 of his front teeth.
This event was traumatizing for him, but life goes on and bills don’t stop. This crash has caused him immense, indescribable pain as the nerves in these teeth have become more exposed over the years. At the end of 2024, one of these teeth was extracted at the health department due to unmanageable degradation and nerve pain.
As a bike mechanic, Ryan’s employer does not offer insurance. Routine dental appointments have been inaccessible to him for years. There is no way for him to afford to the up-front cost of any dental care, and it’s been devastating for me and our close friends to watch his light dim through this suffering.
In addition to the issues from his crash, Ryan is also at the point where he needs a full root canal of one of his molars, at least 2 fillings, and ultimately, a dental plate or veneers to correct the function and appearance of his front teeth. Unfortunately, the health department does not provide the services that he needs, and emergency dental care is his only option.
Living with chronic tooth pain is an exhausting, draining, and miserable existence. Those of you who have experienced this understand. I know Ryan is humbled and grateful for all the love and support that he’s received from you already.
