Please read and pray about how you can help Mark Campbell and his family! Mark is in chronic pain, and currently has to have a total knee replacement. His surgery is scheduled for June 30. After insurance, they will still need to pay $15,000. Please read his story below and pray about how you might be able to help!
From Mark:
“In 2018, I got my right knee replaced, then had labrum repair surgery on my right shoulder. That year, we hit our out-of-pocket max, so I scheduled my shoulder replacement in December because it would be covered 100% (which it was).
Unfortunately, the shoulder replacement failed, so we kicked off January 2019 with a shoulder revision surgery. This was equally as expensive as the replacement, and January started our deductible all over again! Slammed again!
Last June, I was helping load a POD, and that’s the day my right hand went totally numb: rapid onset of carpel tunnel syndrome! The doctor said he’d never seen anything like it in 40 years of practicing medicine!
When I asked about him having insurance…
Yes, after our $3,000 deductible, insurance goes 80/20. We don’t have terrible insurance, but if you’ve got issues, it adds up. So imagine 80/20 on a $75,000 surgery. We have an out-of-pocket max of $10,000, and we’ve hit the out-of-pocket max every year. Further, there are co-pays, medications, and out-of-network providers.
Typically, we will pay $12-20k a year out-of-pocket. In the last decade, we’ve paid close to $150,000 out of pocket in medical expenses. It’s one of the reasons I’ve put off further surgeries, because it crushes us financially.”
Thank you for reading and helping this family!
