Raising funds to help My grandson get Palate Expansion/Airway Orthodontics
My youngest grandson, Leo, has been dealing with sleep disordered breathing due to a narrow palate. Not only does this create major teeth crowding, it also makes it difficult to sleep restfully at night. My daughter and son in law have been looking for solutions for his sleep challenges since he was a baby. It was only in the past year that she got connected with a dental specialist who focuses not just on pretty teeth, but on airway health as well. They discovered that the tongue restriction has led to the narrowing of the palate and the sleep challenges.
They’ve been working on myofunctional therapy to help him improve swallowing, tongue function, and other treatments to help some of his teeth erupt, but now it’s time to enter the next phase of treatment, which is palate expansion through airway focused orthodontics. The estimated cost is $9000-$10,000 by the time all of the final steps, appliances, and associated treatments are completed. Additionally, their two other children also need to be seen for possible tongue tie releases, myofunctional therapy, and maybe even minor expansion as well, although they are not as severe of cases as their brother.
I am raising funds that will go first towards Leo’s airway orthodontic and related treatments and any excess funds will help pay for the other two kids to get started with their treatment as well. Up to now, they have been paying for everything out of pocket, as they do not have insurance coverage for this. Any amount will help.
