Kohlee is a bright, kind, and incredibly resilient 9 year old. He’s currently in the fight of his life.
It all began when doctors discovered a large mass on his brainstem. Right now, the cause is unclear, it could be a tumor, an abscess, or possibly something like acute demyelination. Kohlee has since been transferred to Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth, where he’s being closely monitored by a full team including a neurologist and infectious disease specialist.
Because of the location of the mass, the next step, a lumbar puncture, is incredibly risky. Doctors are running every possible test first and will only proceed if it’s absolutely safe. So for now, we’re in a painful period of waiting, testing, and praying.
Through all of this, Kohlee has shown incredible strength. But he’s scared, overwhelmed, and exhausted, and he’s smart enough to understand more than the doctors realize. No child should ever have to feel this way.
While Kohlee is in Fort Worth with his mom and dad, his two younger brothers, Huxley and Swayze, are staying back home with family. I live with the family and am doing everything I can to help take care of the boys while their parents are focused on Kohlee.
This has completely turned life upside down for everyone.
Huxley and Swayze miss their brother. They miss their parents. And they’re too young to fully understand why things suddenly feel so different.
We’re trying our best to create some stability, but the emotional and financial strain of this situation is very real. That’s why we’re asking for your help.
