My name is Charlotte, and I’m raising funds to help my husband, Henry Short, get a much-needed electric wheelchair. Henry has suffered multiple strokes, leaving him with no feeling on his right side and blindness in his left eye. For over a year, he’s relied on an old, worn-out wheelchair that’s missing parts and makes daily life much more difficult for both of us. We are both in our mid-60s and living on disability, and I work part-time just to help us get by. Social Security doesn’t cover much, and the cost of a new electric wheelchair is far beyond what we can afford.
Recently, Henry was living with his sister in Tennessee, but unfortunately, he wasn’t being cared for properly. My son and I brought him back to Georgia so I could look after him, even though we had been separated for three years. I couldn’t stand to see him mistreated. Now, I do everything for Henry in our small home, and it’s been a huge adjustment for both of us. The old wheelchair makes it hard for him to move around safely, and it’s a daily struggle to meet his needs.
Any support will go directly toward getting Henry a reliable electric wheelchair, which would make a world of difference in his comfort and independence. Your help would mean so much to us as we try to rebuild our lives and give Henry the care he deserves.
