Help Brenda Navigate Life After Kurt’s Loss

In Loving Memory of Kurt Boutin – Support for Brenda’s Journey Ahead

A Light Like His Doesn’t Come Along Often—And Now the World Feels Dimmer Without Him

Help Us Care for Brenda: Honoring Kurt Boutin’s Legacy of Love

My name is Matt Mercier, and I had the great fortune of calling Kurt Boutin one of my closest friends for over 35 years. He was also my colleague and the longest-tenured member of our team at Acapella Technologies. Above all else, he was a devoted husband, loving father, adoring “Grampa,” and the kind of friend everyone hopes to have in their lifetime.

On Mother’s Day morning, May 11, our world shattered.

Kurt was out for a walk that was part of a daily routine he’d adopted

during his second round of the 75 Hard challenge, a disciplined personal growth program that had helped him lose 150 pounds. He had already inspired so many through his journey, sharing his progress with humor, humility, and hope. That morning, as he did every day, Kurt showed up for himself, his health, and his future.

He never came home. While walking that morning, Kurt was struck and killed by an “allegedly impaired driver”. The news is still impossible to process for those who loved him, and that’s a long list.

Kurt was only 58. He leaves behind his beloved wife of more than 35 years, Brenda; their children, Amanda and Jonathan; and his beautiful grandchildren, still just little ones, who brought him immeasurable joy. Nothing made him prouder or happier than being Grampa to Serenity and JJ.

He beamed every time he talked about them; every new sound, every wobbly step, every sleepy cuddle. His love for them was pure magic.

This fundraiser is not just about remembering Kurt.

It’s about helping the person he loved more than anyone in the world; his wife, Brenda.

Kurt and Brenda were high school sweethearts who built a life rooted in deep devotion. Brenda was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in her twenties, shortly after the birth of their second child. As her needs grew, Kurt never hesitated. He adjusted his life to become her full-time caregiver. He worked from home, structured his days around her care, and filled their home with laughter and love. It wasn’t sacrifice to him. It was simply what you do when you love someone as fiercely and fully as Kurt loved Brenda.

He was her partner, her protector, her safe place. Now, she must face a future without his light and without the care he so selflessly provided.

This fund is intended to help Brenda live with dignity and the support she deserves as she navigates unimaginable grief and the ongoing challenges of managing Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Living with MS involves significant medical expenses, including costly disease-modifying therapies, regular medical appointments, and necessary daily assistance. These expenses can be substantial and are often not fully covered by insurance.

By contributing, you are helping to ensure that Brenda has access to the necessary care and resources to manage her health effectively. This support also provides her children, Amanda and Jonathan, who are doing everything they can to support their mom and each other with peace of mind, knowing that their mother’s needs are being met.

He Sang with Soul and Lived with Love

Kurt’s presence was larger than life on stage, in our lives, and in our hearts. He was a gifted bass singer who found community and connection in the world of barbershop harmony. From our early days singing together in quartets to his long-standing membership with the Granite Statesmen Chorus in Nashua, he used his voice to bring people together. The Barbershop Harmony Society, both locally and globally, is grieving the loss of a man whose sound, wit, and spirit made everything brighter.

He was sarcastic, brilliant, deeply kind, and always quick with a joke, often followed by a classic “that’s adorable” delivered with a twinkle of mischief.

As “The Fit Guy,” Kurt chronicled his health journey through video blogs, encouraging others to push forward, stay disciplined, and never stop showing up. Even now, in his absence, dozens of friends and followers are continuing his 75 Hard challenge in his name, completing the remaining 54 days as a tribute to his strength and commitment.

From My Heart to Yours

If you’re here reading this, chances are Kurt touched your life in some way. I invite you to join us in honoring that impact by supporting the person he loved most in the world.

Let’s help Brenda live the life Kurt worked so hard to give her. Let’s show Amanda and Jonathan they’re not alone. Let’s remember Kurt not just with tears, but with actions that echo his love.

A Final Act of Kindness

We may never understand why something so senseless could take someone so special. But in Kurt’s name, we can do something deeply meaningful.

Your donation will directly support Brenda’s medical and living expenses and provide Amanda and Jonathan with the help they need as they carry on the care their father gave so selflessly. It’s a way to honor Kurt’s memory; not just with words, but through the same compassion he shared so freely.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

For your friendship.

For your generosity.

And for helping us carry Kurt’s love forward.
