We come to you with heavy hearts to share the story of my oldest son, Dalvin Teasley, a remarkable young man, brother, uncle, and father whose life took an unimaginable turn. Dalvin, a resident of Richmond, Virginia, was the victim of an attempted robbery on May 16, 2025, that left him fighting for his life. After miraculously surviving a gunshot wound that caused a hole in his heart and pieces of his right lung to be removed, Dalvin showed incredible resilience during his recovery. The doctors told him he is a survivor because usually, they die before they hit the table or they don’t make it off the table. We were all so happy for his fast recovery; he was up and walking within 3 days after being closed up and breathing on his own. Dalvin came home after being in the hospital for 10 days to celebrate his birthday on May 31 by having a cookout with close friends and family.
However, just as he was beginning to regain hope and return to his daily life, tragedy struck again. On June 4, 2025, during a visit from someone he considered a friend, Dalvin was victimized once more. This supposed friend, in a moment of betrayal, grabbed a firearm and shot Dalvin three times—once in the torso and once in each arm. The result of this horrific act has left Dalvin paralyzed from the waist down.
Now, Dalvin faces not just the physical challenges of his injuries but also the emotional and financial burdens that come with them. He will require extensive medical treatment, rehabilitation, and support to adapt to this new reality. He and his family would like to move into a home that will be able to accommodate a wheelchair and enough space for him to move around and heal.
