Hi all, im Jess.
Here i am writing something i never thought i would, for a reason i wish i wasn’t.
A reason that i wish more than anything wasn’t true or real.
But, at the end of the day it’s not me going through this.
It’s my best friend Cindy.
Cindy is 39, a mother of two. 10 and 16.
Cindy is one of the most genuine, kind, loyal and sincere humans ive ever met. She is beyond amazing and shows such strength and courage.
she has one of the biggest hearts and is so compassionate to others.
Cindy was diagnosed with thyroid cancer on the 25th November 2024.
After feeling so unwell for quite sometime, knowing something wasn’t right and continually asking for help from the doctors to find what was going on, cindy was sent for an ultrasound on her thyroid.
That came back with over 10 nodules.
They then biopsied the largest one, that coming back positive for thyroid cancer. Papillary carcinoma, braf v600e.
Cindy now needs a full thyroidectomy and also the removal of some lymph nodes.
-The thyroid is an important endocrine gland that makes and releases certain hormones. Your thyroid’s main job is to control your metabolism-how your body uses energy. –
Cindy has been nothing short of amazing, strong, positive and stoic throughout this whole journey this far. Shes done every test needed, done everything she can that has been asked of her or needed to this point.
On the 25th June 2025 cindy will find out her surgery date. She has an amazing surgeon, who is an accomplished Endocrine, head and neck surgeon/ professor. He is who diagnosed cindy and will now do the surgery for her.
This has been a big decision for Cindy, whilst scary and stressful at the same time to come to terms with also after the surgery that she will need to live on hormones every day to compensate for what the thyroid does for the body. That alone brings its own problems and adjustments for her. This has been life changing for Cindy and will be for the long term also.
-Without a thyroid gland, the body cannot produce thyroid hormones, leading to hypothyroidism. This condition can cause a range of symptoms including fatigue, weight gain, and dry skin, as the thyroid regulates metabolism and other bodily functions. However, hypothyroidism can be effectively managed with daily thyroid hormone replacement medication. –
Im hoping to raise the funds for Cindy, to help cover the cost of surgery, which is $15000 alone, the tests needed and dr visits, the medication needed and also to help with the loss of income from having surgery, recovery and to help with the time off needed to support her and the children through that time.
Every little bit will help and i know she will be forever grateful for that support.
Cindy herself would never ask for help but would help anyone else that needed it.
Any and all help would be amazing!!
Thank you
