Hello, my name is Johnny Buckles. I love dogs, and between my wife and me, we have rescued over 20 dogs (not at one time, that would be crazy). We currently have 4 dogs we have rescued, and in the last few weeks, we noticed something was off with our dog Bella. We’ve had Bella since she was 1, and she is our longest-tenured dog in our home.
Normally, Bella is full of energy, life, and spunk; however, we noticed in the past few weeks that she has been struggling to walk. We took her to the vet and heard she likely has a partial tear in her ligament in her rear right leg. We were prescribed pain and anti-inflammatory meds. (600 dollar visit, but what pet isn’t worth it?)
She improved a bit, and we thought we were out of the woods until she had her first seizure. We noticed her right side was giving her trouble, and the seizures increased in quantity and duration. We bit the bullet and took her to an elevated care facility where they did an MRI, spinal tap, and further testing.
The result – Meningitis (no source defined).
Apparently, these things can come out of the woodwork. The total so far is 6800, but we anticipate with tests, the care facility, and after-care, the cost will exceed 10,000.
Can we alone shoulder the cost for this? Yes.
Are we willing to make the sacrifices to accommodate the cost? Yes.
Then why the fundraiser?
Because we believe in the power of community and helping others.
I want people who are moved by this to contribute what they feel comfortable with.
Even a dollar helps.
Given the polarization of the country and world we live in today, one thing that is hard to disagree with is the unconditional love that we get from our furry friends.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and bless you for anything you are willing to contribute to Bella’s recovery.
