My dear friend Amanda Craft has recently been diagnosed with several life threatening, rare vascular compression disorders including MALS (Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome), SMAS (Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome), MT (May-Thurner), and severe NCS (Nutcracker Syndrome). She’s a hard working single mom to a 10 year old autistic child that she raises by herself while working two jobs. In the past year, her health and quality of life have dwindled considerably; she struggles to keep up with her son, maintain her day to day responsibilities, and she’s had to quit her second job due to her worsening health. Through the journey of trying to figure out what’s going on with her, she’s used all of her savings for medical testing and doctor bills with more tests and now multiple surgeries to come.
Amanda will have open chest surgery in Oklahoma and then will need to go out of state to have a renal autotransplantation surgery. They will remove her left kidney and transplant it to the right side of her body in an attempt to restore blood flow to the left kidney and give it a fighting chance to survive. This surgery needs to happen quickly and we’re not sure how long Amanda will be in the hospital or how long until she’ll be allowed to return to work after surgery. We do know that she’ll be out of work a minimum of 3 months after her MALS, SMAS and PCS surgery in Oklahoma.
I am hoping to raise money to help relieve some of her financial burdens and stress levels. Any funds donated will go directly towards the cost of testing, surgeries, travel for surgeries, in-home care and to help with bills while she’s out of work recovering.
She has so much love and compassion in her heart for the people around her and I’m hoping we can return the favor!
