Recently, this loving family has been struck by catastrophic news: Anve is battling aggressive Stage IV metastatic cancer, and Tommy has also been diagnosed with leukemia, compounded by his chronic Crohn’s disease.
My name is Alisa, and I grew up in a bustling household. Beyond my six siblings, my incredibly generous mother welcomed three additional foster boys into our family.
One of those boys was Tommy. His childhood, along with his brothers, was one of hardship, including the tragic loss of his mother to cancer at a young age.
Years later, Tommy (50) met Anve (54), a wonderful woman from China. They married in 2010 and welcomed their son, Jayven, now 14. Anve attends Wings of Faith church, both Tommy and Anve attend have been an incredible source of encouragement for Jayven, guiding him through his formative years. Anve, in particular, has navigated significant communication and cultural barriers since moving to a new country as an adult, yet she has consistently championed and been there for her son. He is a very smart, talented young boy at 14.
Anve’s health has sadly progressed to the point where she will be going into hospice care and had been unable to work.
Without any extended family in the U.S., she faces an incredibly difficult time. I live across the country, and my mother, who has always been a pillar of support, is now living with dementia, limiting her ability to help.
Tommy and Anve live in a modest home with a mortgage of $37,000. They relied on both Tommy and Anve’s income to meet their payments and other essential expenses. With both parents facing severe illness and now her inability to work, their situation has become dire. Should he lose his job or be unable to work due to his diagnosis, it will jeopardize their ability to keep their home and provide stability for Jayven’s future.
I am initiating a fund to assist with their mounting medical bills and to, hopefully, ensure that Jayven does not face homelessness during this unimaginably difficult time.
Please consider joining me in donating to help this family in their moment of profound need. Your support can make a crucial difference. Thank you in advance, Alisa
