Help Bailey Fight Leukemia, Save Her Fertility, and Support through Transplant
Hi, I’m Mina and I’m writing this with urgency, hope, and deep love for my best friend’s daughter and our beloved nanny for the last five years. Bailey is 21 years old and bravely fighting for her life—again.
Bailey’s Story
Bailey was diagnosed with Philadelphia-positive B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (Ph+ B-ALL) in March 2017. After enduring grueling treatment, sepsis, coma, and near death, she achieved remission at the end of treatment in 2019. In 2021 with a Covid-19 battle, she sadly relapsed and once again endured treatment concluding with CAR-T cell therapy. This brought about a three year remission. Her strength and resilience were nothing short of extraordinary—she was even dancing and running again, regaining her health and her future.
But now, the leukemia has returned for a third time—a molecular relapse, growing stronger with each passing day. Bailey’s doctors have confirmed she needs a bone marrow transplant (BMT) as soon as possible to save her life.
Preserving Her Future
Before transplant, Bailey is undergoing fertility sparing treatment to preserve her ability to have children—a painful, costly, and time-sensitive step. The chemotherapy and transplant she faces will likely leave her infertile. She is fighting not only for her life but for the future she still dreams of and the only chance she will have at biological children.
Why We’re Asking for Help
We’re doing all we can, but the financial strain is overwhelming. Over the last 6 months Bailey and her parents have traveled to Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa and back several times for multiple visits, testing, and initial treatment. They also traveled to Philadelphia to visit Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to get a second option about next steps with one of the top experts in her rare disease that has been a consultant on her case since the beginning. At the recommendation of her consulting doctor, she has been receiving care for transplant at Shand’s in Gainesville for the last several weeks, a 3 hour commute from home. Tolls, gas, hotel stays, and other expenses quickly add up. Due to the lengthy bone marrow transplant process and requirements to be hospitalized for several months, and then remain less than 30min from the hospital for another three months, means they must live in Gainesville for the next 6 months.
We are humbly asking for help with:
Expense Amount
Insurance deductible & out-of-pocket care $9,200
Fertility preservation remaining costs $8,000
Rent and utilities near hospital ($2,500 x 6 months) $15,000
Ongoing home expenses in Melbourne Ongoing
Total goal: $35,000
This amount will help cover Bailey’s critical medical needs and 6 months of rent so she and her parents and brother, who is her marrow donor, can stay near the transplant center during this life-saving phase. The family has already spent thousands of dollars this year thus far, drastically reducing their savings to near empty.
How You Can Help
If you’re able to give, please know that every donation—no matter the size—goes directly to Bailey’s treatment, comfort, and survival. And if you can’t give financially, please share her story, pray, or follow along and send love.
