Betty Melancon is a lifelong resident of Reserve, LA. She was active in her church and community until she became disabled due to chronic venous stasis wounds on her legs. She has also suffered with congestive heart failure for many years and has undergone several surgeries.
In 2021, her home sustained major damage from Hurricane Ida, and she continues to be displaced as her home remains under repair. Ms. Betty has recently experienced medical complications and has had many hospital stays. She is now finding herself with mounting medical bills as well as being displaced from her home.
